Mudita is developing a new e-ink phone called the Kompakt. There are no mentions of a release date yet, but the first pic on the product page shows the date 23rd september. Maybe that’s a hint to the date of the launch. But it is mentioned that it will be released on Kickstarter.
It won’t be like a smartphone like that of the Hisense and Bigme ones since this will essentially be a dumb phone with an e-ink screen. So most probably it won’t have Google Play store. But it will have WiFi and dual sim card slot. It will also have a 3.5mm audio jack and wireless charging. Not much is known beyond that. More details will be released in the coming weeks.
Eink phone and Kickstarter – if you’re getting flashbacks to the Minimal Phone then you shouldn’t worry about that. Mudita is an old company that has released and delivered eink phones in the past. Their first ever phone was the Pure and since then they’ve expanded into watches and alarm clocks. But while the pure uses a keypad with navigation buttons, this one will be touchscreen.
