Mudita Kompakt eink phone – Specs & Price October 2024

The Mudita Kompakt e-ink dumbphone is still in it’s development stage and there is no word yet of its release date. But the company has revealed some of its features and specs and I’ve listed them down below.

Mudita Kompakt Hardware

The phone is made of a thick and robust internal aluminum frame and a durable plastic exterior and it has an IP 54 rating against dust and water. It will have a fingerprint reader on the side which also functions as the power button along with an Offline switch. There is an 8MP rear camera with flash, dual sim card slot, headphone jack, USB-C, WiFi and bluetooth.

The battery is 3300mAh which is quite big for an eink phone with a custom operating system like this. In comparison, the Bigme HiBreak’s battery is also of the same size and it’s a full-fledged Android phone with Google Play and the Remarkable 2 which has a bigger screen at 10″ has even less at 3000mAh. So this one will probably last for many days.

Mudita Kompakt Software

Mudita Kompakt won’t be using android, but instead their own custom operating system called the Mudita OS K. It will have a few basic apps and while the full list is not yet known we do know there will be an ebook reader, Music player, Meditation timer, camera and Maps app where you can download certain areas and use it offline. The GPS is meant solely as a receiver so your location won’t be known. Other essentials like audio recorder, weather, calculator, and notes apps will also be included.

Mudita is strong on privacy and they stated they won’t monetize the users data and your digital footprint remains solely yours. Users don’t need to worry about their usage data or location being harvested as everything stays on their device, under their control.

Mudita Kompakt K Price

Mudita has stated that the Kompakt will be launched on Kickstarter at an exclusive early bird price of €299 which is equivalent to 327$.
