I recently purchased the Boox Note Air 4C from India so I can give you advice on the best way to go about buying Boox eink tablets and ereaders from this country. As you know, the process here is not straight-forward since they are not usually available on the main online stores and even when they do it’s usually at almost double the price.
This is because India puts a heavy tax on imports – usually 45% and above. So that discourages e-reader companies like Onyx Boox, Dasung, Bigme, and others from entering the market here.
Amazon International Stores
In my opinion Amazon International Stores, specifically the UK store is the best place to buy Onyx Boox ereaders. It is not the fastest but your product will most probably reach you in 7-10 days. The only downside is it is more expensive than the 3rd option (specifically 10,000 more for my Note air 4C at around 68,000). I wanted to go with this option but unfortunately they wouldn’t accept my cards which was funny because I used the same one to buy the TCL Nxtpaper phone last year.
Amazon India
Onyx Boox note-writing e-ink tablets and e-readers do sometimes come to the Amazon India store but usually at a very big markup. For example the Note air 4C’s original price is $499, but on first week of February this year I saw it listed for around Rs. 78,000 which comes to $900 which is almost double the original price. It’s not the seller’s fault though since import taxes, shipping rates and GST leaves them no choice but to list it at that price.
One advantage though is that you will get your device in a few days which is way faster than the other two options. You have to be quick though since there are usually 2-3 items in stock so they run out fast.
MX2Games
This was my last resort to use as they told me it would take around 5 weeks for me to get the product and I didn’t want to wait that long. But since the above options were not feasible I had no other choice but to go with MX2Games. I am happy I saved a good amount of money though by buying from them. I got it for around Rs. 57,000 but it took way more than the expected time as I ordered it on the 8th of January and it reached me on 3 of April 2025 which is almost 3 months. But they packaged it really well and everything is well and intact and they offered a full refund when I complained about the delay, but they advised me to wait for some more time. Thankfully the tablet was able to go past customs and reach their warehouse a few days after my complaint.
If you don’t mind the delay then this is your best option as everything was easy and smooth – I could pay in rupees using GPay, their support is great on WhatsApp – they always reply with 24 hours and no need for KYC or extra import fees and such. The price is exactly as listed on the website– infact for many products, you’ll get a discount if you contact them on WhatsApp first.
