When reMarkable hinted at a new release this week I thought it would be the reMarkable 3. But instead we got something even bigger and better- the Paper Pro – a 11.8″ Color Note-taking eink tablet. So this is not the successor to the Remarkable 2, but we will have a look at the differences in their specs anyways in this article-

The Paper Pro has color and also a frontlight layer, but the company itself says that the writing experience is superior compared to the Remarkable 2. “Despite the addition of a new reading Light and color display, we think reMarkable Paper Pro boasts the most paper-like writing experience you’ll find on a digital device. New innovations in the interaction between the Marker tip, textured display surface, and custom software enable a level of responsiveness and tactility unheard of until now. Latency (the speed the ink reacts to your Marker tip) has been reduced by 40% when compared with reMarkable 2.” (from their blog)
The new one is also faster with a writing latency of 12 milliseconds- compared to 21 on the Remarkable 2. It also has a bigger battery, ram and CPU. One area i wish the device would’ve upgraded was the number of supported filetypes. It’s still only PDf and ePubs which is a shame since this wouldve been great for those who read comics and manga.
